Smile What Distortion Should I Buy ?

Hey Guys, ( oh mah gahd, this is my first post !? )

I'm going up to my cabin where I play most of my " gigs " with my grandfather, this Wednesday and on Tuesday I'm going pedal shopping When I jam with him we usually play everything from blues to country to folk to Irish to classic rock . I'm looking for a good pedal that I can use in different genres, but still with a unique sound. And kind of fuzz, overdrive, distortion, or muff is welcome .. and any kind of pic, sound clip, video, or any of that jazz is greatly appreciated

    Tanks in Advance,
    Jerry

    1. Tube Screamer 808. I use a copy of it. It has nice mids and sounds best on valve amp.
    2. Boss DS-1 Distortion by Keeley

I had a distortion III that was pretty nice, until my vox bulldog ate it.

I have a Fulltone GT500 and with some tweaking can get every kind of overdrive and distortion sound I could ever want. Plus it can be used as a boost as well.

I would suggest the T-Rex Alberta or the Addrock Ol' Yeller.

For cheapness, get a Boss BD2. It can be a great clean boost, or a standalone od.

If you are looking for a distortion pedal, a ProCo Rat is a nice choice...Overdrive, well there are tons that will work...

Rats are cool.. I like the EH Metal Muff, but has to be set rather low gain for color and the Top Boost is useless. The Radial Tonebone Hot British is cool too. Again, you can't really turn the knobs up very high.

Tone bones are great. I just got a Keeley Fuzz Head which I really like, it depends on the guitar you want to use, and amp too sometimes. I have 1 distortion, 2 fuzz and 1 boost pedal, all of which I enjoy and use depending on the occasion

Just realised, with singlecoils you can get a good fuzzy sound with the BD2. Jack White style.
