Seymour Duncan Full Shred Trembucker Review:
Bridge D.C. Resistance: 14.6k
Magnet: Alnico 5 bar
I installed the Seymour Duncan Fullshred Trembucker in the bridge position of my Warmoth Strat. My Warmoth has a basswood body and a rosewood neck. I tested the Fullshred out clean on my Fender Twin Reverb. My first impressions were that it was a little to bright. It had a good clean sound but it was a little ear piercing. I then enabled the coil splitting option and wow, one of the best clean sound I have ever heard. Not so strat like but it was a very usable clean sound. Still a little bright but not as much as it was in full humbucker mode.
I then connected to a Ibanez Tube Screamer. Instant classic rock with a little bit of a modern voicing to it and with the coil splitting it sounded more like a strat than it did on the clean channel. I got some good twangy strat sounds out of it. Think SRV in the 1 position.
Now going through my Peavey 5150 combo. Holy shit this pickup screams. Very tight. Not so much air-iness like other pickups when playing leads but it still cut through well. The only problem is with this pickup is that you can't be a sloppy player because this pickup really amplifies your mistakes.
Overall I think this is a really good pickup. Great for classic rock to metal. Not so much blues because it's a too tight of a pickup. Even though it does sound really good in basswood, I think it's a little too bright. I did replace it with a Dimarzio X2N and I will write a review on that soon. I will also write a couple of more reviews on the Full Shred tested on my Gibson Flying V and my Yamaha alder body strat style guitar.
