My thoughts on the fender strat pickups is it really depends on what you are looking for--
I really do not have any experience with the 57 classics but from what I have heard from friends is that they are good for a clean and glassy sort of tone--chimey and bell like is another description I have heard and read.
The 60's classics are nice for that 60's tone but there are pickups that are better suited for the early 60's tone other than Fender--Kinnman and Lollar come to mind--
The Texas specials are a pretty good all around set for blues, sothern rock and classic rock tone--
All of these are pretty good and they are really dependent on pickup height, pot values ect.. fret board material makes a little difference as well.
I think the texas special neck pickup would work better for what you are wanting rather than the 57's---
Do not count out the custom shop 69's--I love mine and I absolutely love the 69 neck PU---
Maybe I can stop by a GC and play a classic player 50's strat and see what the PU's sound like--I have played them but it has been a while ago--But I really can't remember much about them--
Thanks Bro. All the best to you and your Family. I'm cutting out in a few minutes to go to dinner and watch the Canada/USA Hockey game. It should be very close.
yeah, Im originally from Connecticut, USA and moved to British Columbia in 04. I have a cousins who moved here as well, but the rest of our family is still on the East coast of the states. When i was growing up we were of a Christian faith that was very conservative, and christmas wasnt a holiday we observed, but I got used to getting stuff from other family members, so every year around this time I get GAS for one thing or another, but this year, my Trad will have to suffice (even though i got it as a b-day present for myself in April)
I did pick up a used Fender Princeton Recording amp (with built in attenuator) they were having a special where monthly rentals were 1/2 price, its not a bad little amp, though i havent had much time with it yet. It would be nice to have permanently, but the pricetag is way over my head, but itll be a fun little toy to play with for a month.
Ive been pretty good, it had been cold, but the past week has been rainy and mild, which i dont mind as much as the cold.
Glad to here about the Casino, ive always thought there was a separation between the Epiphone archtops and the knock off Gibson models as far as quality and sound. Ive been suffering a major GAS for a guitar with p90, and low and behold i go down to the store to buy some strings yesterday and they have 2 Les Paul Specials, one yellow doublecut and one red singlecut. Ive always wanted a special, i dont know if these are limited editions or what, theres no info about them on the Gibson site (theyre gloss, not the faded model) it sucks because im still paying off my Trad, which is pretty much all my extra money each paycheck. Im gonna go back down there and try to find out more info on them, if theyre rare i may have to find a way to snag one, but if theyre being put back into regular production i could wait, which is still pretty good news
Any big plans for Xmas? Im not big on the holiday myself, and most of my family is in the US, so for me its just gonna be a day off work to play guitar
