ADAT Question - Behringer ADA8000, Digi 001 and Logic

I have a brand new Behringer ADA8000 which is giving me problems. I added it to a Digi 001 via TOSlink for extra ins and am getting clicking and popping on all of the new inputs (9-16). I have monitor speakers hooked up to outs 9 and 10 (on the ADA8000) and the outbound audio isn't clicking at all. It's only on the ins and the clicks are recorded into the audio track in Logic.

I get the least clicking when I set the Digi 001 as master at 44.1 khz but it's still at least 2-3 clicks/pops per minute. Any other setting, and I have tried them all (Digi 001 master 48 khz, ADA8000 master 44.1 khz, ADA8000 master 48 khz, with Logic's sample rate adjusted accordingly under Project Settings > Audio), gives even more clicks/pops. Please help.

Behringer technical support told me it's probably defective so I am send it back.
