For those who totally missed the joke, everyone is on the wrong instruments while playing to a packed house at the Budokan. Kids, don't try that at home, they are trained professionals.

First half of the song has:

Paul Gilbert(guitar) on drums
Eric Martin(vocals) playing guitar
Pat Torpey(drums) holding down bass
Billy Sheehan(bass) singing lead vocals

Second half:

Sheehan goes on guitar
Martin moves to bass
Torpey takes over vocals


And...they pulled it off effectively.

I had my suspicions, that's for sure. Sheehan has vids himself shredding on the bass like a guitar player. Not exactly what I would term "music," but it's certainly technically impressive.
