    Check out my stuff.

    Hey guys,

If your a fan of classic rock, you might enjoy my band Jungle Under Kings on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads

Here's a video from a concert we played a few months ago. This is basically the 'outro' to the concert where we introduce all the band members. I'm not sure where the rest of the footage from the concert is, but I'll try and find some of it. You may have to click on this one to go to it. I'm the one with the strat.

At the begining of May, we played a battle of the bands in San Francisco and placed 3rd out of 12 other bands. Considering we are not local to SF at all, I thought that was pretty good.
my band comes on at about 2:53. horrible sound quality, unfortunetly. I'm the one with the LP in this one.

Ekoms, how would you describe your music? I watched both of your Videos and the one was very reminiscent of early Counting Crows (BTW, I like the CC). Who have been your musical influences? Does everyone collaborate on the creation of your music or is it just one or two of your members? I like the feel and vibe of your music.

    Re: Check out my stuff.

I would say kind of classic rock based, but our songwriting style isnt based too much on just one thing. Everyone in the band loves older/real rock n roll, and our goal is to bring that back to the forefront. We all agree that modern music pretty much blows, and that there is nothing really 'new' out there. We're not doing anything super groundbreaking, but we do our thing in our own way, which is pretty unique.

My personal influences are Led Zep, Humble Pie, the Allman Brothers, the Who, Skynyrd, Joe Pass, Buddy Guy, Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Billy Gibbons. It really goes on and on, and bounces around quite a bit. Everything I hear influences me in some way, be it good or bad. I draw inspiration from a lot of random stuff that I hear or see too.

As a whole, our taste in music is pretty much the same, though we all go in a little different directions. I like some of the heavier stuff, like Sabbath, while my bro hates it. Same thing with Pink Floyd, I'll be rockin out to Time on the radio, and my brother will change it. He can't stand it.

I wouldnt cite counting crows as an influence at all. Maybe the Black Crows, but not CC.

Mainly me and my bro write the basic guitar parts, but when the full band is jamming on it for the first time is when it all comes together. Everyone in the band has a say on what happens with the songs, and its cool to hear different takes of the same part with a different beat or rythym accented.

Our drummer and bassist also write their own stuff that we play. It's really fun, cuz we all might change instruments for a certain song. Suddenly I may be playing bass, while my drummer moves over to the keys, and my bassist takes over the drums. Makes for some fun live shows when you can start a set with anyone on any instrument.

First off, Ekoms, sweet axe! I love it. Second, I just want to say that I view a lot of videos and from the little I've heard, it appears that you guys are tight. Good sounds and style all around. You know I remember going out back in the late seventies/early eighties to listen to friends and peers from school play gigs. There were a lot of bands around and there was someone to go see play every weekend. Of course they were doing a lot of Led Zep, Sabbath, Rush, Floyd, the Who, BOC, Doors and poor Hendrix mimickry. LOL and some were doing more southern style rock: Skynyrd, etc. In retrospect, I hate to say it, but they were all really just mediocre with a few more licks and chords than the dudes Zappa wrote about in Joe's Garage.LOL. Basically just a lot of noise and for stoners and drunks. You sound real good - I hope to hear more.

Thanks VB! Hopefully we can get some good concert footage one of these days.

You would not believe some of the bands we've played with. Last week we played with a band who's lead guitarist insisted on wearing a trenchcoat. Like a Jack the Ripper style one. I don't get some people.

I wish there were more bands around us that played similar music, we usually have to palay with some super heavy metal guys or wierd 3-piece folkish girl bands.

They were good for sure. Very talented girls. But playing a concert with them is odd. Especially if we play right after them. Imagine a soft, folk band. And then a loud rock band right after. It's a little wierd.

Think of the Folk Gals as the foreplay and your Band as the Climax of the evening. Makes sense to me.

    Thanks Horse!

We never seem to get pics from shows. My bassist sister takes a shit ton of em, but I don't know what happens.

I'll see if I can get some new pics up for you guys.

As for video, we might have something here in a few days. On Friday we played a benefit for my friend who was paralyzed in a swimming accident, and it was filmed. The guy emailed us asking for our setlist so he could title each one. I'll post it up when I get it.

    Re: Check out my stuff.

Which one did you look at Sent?

They were both really fun. The battle of the bands is more of a highlight for me because we got 3rd place, and we arent from the area. We lost by a mere 6 votes, and we didnt bring that many people, which means we converted some other bands fans to ours. Was definitely a suprise to have placed at all, being that all the other bands were pretty heavy, and here we come with some good ole rock n' roll.
