Saw this guy tonight---I really liked him--

I saw Bobby Blackmon at BB Kings tonight--

I had heard the name, but never heard his music to the best of my knowledge--

He was playing through an old Deluxe Reverb tonight---Sounded great and less bright/tinny that some of these clips---

The band was tight--no flash, just rock solid and GOOD--

His version live last night was more spontanious and more soulful----It really kicked but live last night---

I liked how he stayed true enough to the original to pay homage to Jimi, but he was also able to make it his own----Which is what all classic covers should be---

Jimi's wasn't the original but he was one of the first to slow the tune down shortly along with the Music Machine. Before that it was a straight ahead high speed proto-punk tune. First hit was by the Leaves followed by the Byrds and the Standells in 1966.
