Cool video, Dan.

It took me a little to get used to the accent, though. I don't know why but I tend to understand Americans better than Brits. I once tried to watch 'The Life Of Brian' in the original version and I hardly understood anything.

Re: A Geartalk Video Blog

Hmmm...I wonder if I should make a vid tonight. I'm home...nothin' to do but practice for a few hours...

If I do....should I do one on pickups, or evil plotting and scheming for Geartalk? Should I talk some smack on Les Paul on camera? Or, should I wait until my drummer Rob gets his NEW drumset so I can talk to him about that?

Sigh...decisions, decisions...

5 people I didn't thank in the video...(cut on the fly, and my memory isn't what it used to be...)

Shifty

Electric Sunshine
Axe!

Y'all rock for keeping this forum going!

PS: It might still be processing. Either way, it should be online shortly.

Ah well, the only other MIJ I have, besides my Tokais, is a 1980 Aria Stratocaster. I haven't played it in a while. It's in desperate need of new pickups. The neck pickup is significantly quieter than the other two.

I'll see if I can come up with something I'm confident with posting here.

Re: A Geartalk Video Blog

hey brother! thanks for the vid, just watched it back from work....

yeah..... that axe has no presence compared to your others... you done the whole mod thang on it? the EMGs are doing the bassy thing again, lots of tight bass anywho.....

awww heck its just consolidating my stance on Epi.....

Shame bro, dont offload it though, as you say you wouldnt feel good... think my EPi is a little more open than your custom, how heavy is it?

having a thought..Dimarzio pups are as a whole more focused, maybe they would fit that axe, add some 'lift'?

Hmm...it's a thought, but I think at this point I'm gonna pass on the DiMarzio's. Or passives on this guitar. Your Epi probably makes this guitar look like an even bigger doggie turd. (and it's not even Epi's per se because my last demo had another Epi...with passive pups and I like the tone of that guitar.)

As far as what it's made out of...with the active pickups, it weighs in at...just over 7 lbs.

That's about the lightest LP I've ever heard of...

PS: As for the bass....I kinda have to chalk that up to that Street Cube I used. It was set on the Blackface emulator (which is kinda bassy...)

I'll admit I never got the comments so much as jackasses stopping by and giving my vids off my old account crappy ratings. Either way...that's why all of that is disabled. I figure if someone wants to go either way with it with comments...

Well, we're on a forum.

When it comes to the pairing of pups with woods, my Prophecy is spot on..... probably the one of the most successful pairings ive ever heard in real life!

I hear ya. In truth, it didn't bother me much until I posted a vid with some of my family members in it...I dunno...I'm kinda weird about that. So...I ended up pullin' the plug, and I'll admit you're probably not going to see any of 'em in any vids I do.

But as far as those Prophecies...oh man...I gotta admit...lately those have been growin' on me, bit time. I saw a tone demo with an SG Prophecy....it sounded amazing!

the necks are really slim, ebony board, very nice, feel solid and toneful..those dirty fingers are excellent.

Really cant understand why they get knocked so much ......

Re: A Geartalk Video Blog

Pretty interesting, Sen. I totally understand where you're coming from. I have one Floyd Rose equipped guitar that I never play because of that thingy. There are people that can make pretty cool things with those Floyds, but it's definitely not for me.
As for my Strat, I don't even know where that trem arm is. I've never used it and I think it got lost during one of the several moves I made since I have that guitar.
I've only ever played one string thru guitar (Dean ML) and I can't tell if there was that much of a difference to a stoptail equipped guitar. From an aesthetical point of view, I prefer the TP/bridge combination.

I'm pretty much teh same way...although I'm more curious about the hole through body design. I know the tailpiece, aesthetically is very appealing...but I'm really curious if this design actually allows for the strings to pull more actual tone from the body since they are directly vibrating against it. Anyways....thanks again for watching, and I'm right there with ya on the FR's....

I've heard a lot of good things about those Michael Kelly's...I wish I could get over the stylings on it, though. (for some reason that Godin variation on a Les Paul body just looks...weird. I think Prestige guitars are sort of the same way. But they do have some other killer models!)
