I must be the thick one here.
A band has two guitarists.
On their albums, they list the band member names and instruments they play.
Vocals, drums, keyboards, bass, rhythm guitar, lead guitar.
THEY make that distinction themselves, and then YOU go see them play live.
You tell me.
A good example;
When Sammy Hagar first hooked up with Van Halen in the eighties, Eddie shared a stage with another guitar player for the first time in his career.
The sound was fuller, much improved, and I can assure you Eddie was NOT the rhythm player.
